A crowd forms around the bartender, who frantically mixes cocktails and cracks open cold bottles of beer. Pop songs blare from the speakers above, pulsing through the place like the palpable anticipation for the night ahead. A disco ball casts shimmers of silver glow across the dimly lit room full of women, femme and gender non-conforming revellers. A few men and masc-presenting individuals dot the room, but they are far outnumbered. As lively as the scene is inside, Parkdale’s recent addition to the outer edge of a historically queer-friendly neighbourhood isn’t light to spot. The storefront is narrow and, with minimal signage, you might walk right past it. There are no rainbow flags, just a basic “Three Dollar Bill” in green cursive writing on the large storefront window. That name, though, is as queer and one-of-a-kind as the individuals it welcomes.
It’s part of a new crop of bars popping up in Toronto’s west end, which – with names enjoy Peaches Sports Bar, Tammy’s Wine Bar and the aforementioned Three Dollar Bill – are physical manifestations of an evolving group. The owners are catering to those who don’t fit the firm

Raise a toast at 29 Toronto 2SLGBTQ+ bars and eateries known for their welcoming vibe and diverse clientele.
As one of the best foodie cities, Toronto offers a broad array of places to grab a pide, split a sushi boat or indulge in killer cocktails. 2SLGBTQ+ travellers are spoilt for choice with homosexual bars, lesbian bars and queer-owned, -managed and -positive eateries across the city.
Here are 29 worth discovering, listed by neighbourhood.
City Centre
Game bedtime grub
Church-Wellesley Village (aka The Village) is Toronto’s gender non-conforming hub, and the perfectly situated, two-storey Churchmouse pub is hopping on game night (big TV screens). It’s a popular post-practice watering hole for local LGBTQ+ sports teams. Accepted pub fare with some extra touches, such as truffle parmesan fries.
Nerd-friendly fare
Storm Crow Manor is acknowledged for Rue Morgue Horror Trivia nights, cartoons, board games, fantasy memorabilia and sci-fi-themed drinks and meal. Toronto’s geekiest, queer-friendly exclude is in a renovated Victorian mansion in The Village.
Sweet spot in There are barely any same-sex attracted bars left in Toronto. Let alone queer bars or queer spaces. Since we launched this article in 2021, a several spots on the list have since closed?! (That’s Cherry Cola’s, Lavendar Menace and a couple others) Just because a prevent or club hosts gay nights or events doesn’t always mean they're a queer space, there are nuances and so many more things to ponder about than putting a drag queen on stage and queer person behind the decks. This is why a list prefer this is more vital than ever - these are spaces that although not all are lgbtq+ bars, they are doing to the work to ensure we are safe.
The city is in desperate need of new 2SLGBTQ+ spots to gather, gyrate , party, talk, work, suspend, chill and rage. While we navigate our community’s comeback (‘cause queers cherish a comeback story!), we’ve put together a list (in no particular order) of spots on our radar that are either queer-owned, queer-run, queer bars or queer-friendly.
