Atlantis Bahamas - Gay friendly?

JoeyAnyc said:

My partner just mentioned somethine about going to the Bahamas sometime ealry next year. He specifically mentioned Atlantis. Has any gay couples been there?

I was wondering how lgbtq+ friendly they are there. I tried Google and couldn't
find any trip reports.

ANY information, recommendations, etc. would be greatly appreciated.
I'm just thrilled it's only a 3 hour flight from me.

Actually, Nassau/Paradise Island is established for being very lgbtq+ UNfriendly. The locals there protested at the port when Rosie's R Family cruise stopped there. Apparently the protestors were very hateful to people coming off the boat and into town.

In terms of personal experience, we didn't really run into any problems in Nassau when we were on the Disney cruiselast year (we spent less than an hour in Nassau, though) We also took a cab over to Atlantis and walked around. We spent about $25 in the casino, went through the aquarium, and strolled around the resort. It's nice enough, I surmise, though VERY expensive.

Here's the recap of our Nassau day http://www.disboards.com/showpost.php?p=29029895&am

The Bahamas Gay Guide 2020

The white-sand beaches and pristine surroundings of the Bahamas have uplifted it to one of the top gay holiday destinations in the Caribbean. The locals might not be familiar with the homosexual lifestyle yet, however travellers hardly even notice it.

The Bahamas' Gay Community is still 'in the closet', so the gay-only places are hidden and difficult to find. There is actually an underground "gay" scene in Nassau, that comprises of gay-popular places, frequented by gay people.

Gay Marriage in the Bahamas is not yet commended but there are a scant gay-friendly resorts which practice tiny ceremonies for gay couples as well. Overall, there are not any gay-only hotels in the Bahamas, but the gay-friendly hotels and resorts stand out for their friendlier attitude!

The beach at the Westend Esplanade is a widespread spot for gay travellers, while you can also find an all-male Turkish bathhouse, which is a wonderful choice for relaxing and refreshing moments.
