Known and loved for his pizzaz and playful takes on American desserts, Zac Childish has soared to victory and celebrity as a finalist on Top Chef: Just Desserts, and appearances on Food Network shows like Halloween Baking Championship and Chopped. Young graduated from the Institute of Culinary Education honing his skills at Bouchon Bakery and Butter Restaurant and worked his way to Partner at Craveable Hospitality Group. His latest project, Sprinkletown, offers a choose-your-own-adventure menu, delighting kids and adults alike with pleasant treats and sprinkles. What is your favorite part of your job?
When you can help recapture a moment from someone’s past or the collective past by teaching the history of food, that is amazing. All of a sudden, it’s as if you've filled the room with people’s long-lost friends and family, lovers, and adversities they overcame. You can do that with smells, facts, tastes, and it works just the same. It’s a pleasure to see people leave a presentation glowing because they realize they’ve carried these stories and meanings with them, and they have something to pass on. A lot of the good comes from helping people to acknowledge they have a story of their hold to tell, and that they should — by any means necessary — make sure it gets told. I want everybody to be a storyteller.

Is it a cake or is it pie? Either way, the PieCaken has taken the dessert world by storm.
The PieCaken is a one-of-a-kind dessert that has layers of pumpkin pie, pecan pie, and spice cake all held together with cinnamon buttercream and topped with apple pie filling. The tasty manage was originally developed by celebrity pastry chef Zac Young in as a dessert special for a hotel restaurant in Midtown.
It was never meant to become a thing, and it never meant to be sold as a cake — just as a slice as a special in one restaurant, said Young. I had posted an in progress post on Instagram of the PieCaken and my friends started asking if they could have one. At first, I said no, but after a while, I relented and thought, I guess well sell cakes?'
At the day, Young did not acquire a bakery to labor from to mass-create the PieCakens. By the Friday before Thanksgiving in , Young scrambled to erect a website to get orders and started to draw up a prepare for customers to be able to pick up their PieCaken.
