2. Raising My Rainbow
Lori Duron is the creative genius behind Raising My Rainbow, a site that features her gender-creative son C.J., as the star of the show. Instead of fretting about the evidence that she had a gender nonconforming son, Lori's family chose to include C.J. as the unusual and fun rainbow that he is. Her posts are extremely versatile and you may find yourself laughing, crying, and serious in thought by the time you finish reading one post. We loved one of her recent witty posts that pointed out the fact that gender reveal parties should be called genitalia reveals since a child's idea of gender doesn't even begin to develop until age three. The way C.J. isn't afraid to be himself and loves the people that flop to see him clearly is extremely inspiring, and spending time on this blog can actually coach everyone about the way
Representation is paramount in all shapes and forms.
Whilst many TV shows and films are becoming better as representing the LGBTQ spectrum, one demographic that we really want to observe more of is LGBTQ families aka rainbow families.
Whilst the media portrayal does a great job in shows like Modern Family, these feel a minuscule far and few between.
Equally when I log on to Instagram, most LGBTQ content that I view is stereotypically hot lgbtq+ guys, rarely do I see a LGBTQ family unit and whilst the hot guys are wonderful to see, seeing LGBTQ families always warms my heart.
So to break the algorithm we wanted to share with you our favourite, adorable and inspiring LGBTQ family blogs and Instagram accounts, make sure you follow them and show then some love.
