Zagreb, Dubrovnik and Hvar – Is Croatia Getting a Little Gayer?

Croatia is every bit as paradisiacal as the photos show it to be. A wonderland of yachts bobbing up and down on crystal blue waters, villages of red roofed venetian buildings, lush vineyards, pine forests and cobblestoned cities with skylines dominated by towering churches and ancient towers. It isn’t surprising that it is one of the most popular holiday destinations in Europe. What it isn’t known for however, is being a hotspot for LGBTQ+ activity.

With regards to gay rights, it has been a rocky road for Croatia. Just like in a lot of conservative majority destinations, it has often been two steps forward, one step back for the country’s progression towards equality. Same-sex activity finally became legal in , but later in the nineties &#; after the Croatia Civil War – a resurgence of conservative values led to returning discrimination against the same-sex attracted community. However, things possess come a long way since then. Despite queer marriage being banned constitutionally in , now Gay couples enjoy the identical rights as their vertical married counterparts – if not in name – and anti-discrimination laws hold been put fir

Enchanting. Spectacular. Magical. Croatia is a country spoiled by the natural beauty of cascading waterfalls and impossibly blue seas, set against medieval castles and ancient walled villages. It's a country so diverse that it's tough to detail in a nutshell. Combine to this the approachable locals and great Mediterranean food and there's no wonder why many people call this country Europe's best kept secret

During our 10 incredible male lover group tour days in Croatia, we'll stay within the ancient walled town of Split, island hop to the cosmopolitan town of Hvar, and allocate a few days getting to know the amazing city of Dubrovnik, where we can, of course, discover many Game of Thrones filming locations as we explore this historic city together. And if all that isn't enough, we'll even take a day trip across the border into Bosnia to experience the beauty of Mostar.

Being a relatively small country means spending less time in a bus/boat on travel days between all of the diverse destinations and more time out there soaki

Gay Croatia, Europe’s emerging queer hot spot.

Over the past few years more and more gay travellers contain been flocking to the beaches of Croatia, attracted by a more relaxed gay scene and finer value for money when compared to other Mediterranean destinations.

Croatia has amazing beaches to explore, many of them very gay-friendly!

Croatia is a country with stunning island retreats and a long golden coastline, original cuisine, and a mild climate. Croatia is part of the Mediterranean heritage so expect gastronomic delicacies and luscious wines when visiting local restaurants. While the nightly gay scene tends to be on the quieter side, the daytime beaches are entire of hot guys looking for fun. Indeed Croatia has some of the top nudist beaches in Europe and is the perfect escape for those seeking a relaxing holiday filled with sunshine and surprises.

Homosexuality is legal in Croatia. The gay scene is more developed in the larger cities such as Zagreb and Dubrovnik. Croatia passed the Animation Partnership Act in The Life Partnership Act allows gay couples to accept the same legal benefits as heterosexual couples for just about everything except adoption right.

Big Gay scene in Hvar?

Hey all,

I am currently planning my trip to Croatia next week, including 3 nights in Hvar. A friend of a companion of mine was out there a couple of weeks ago and had a great time. He did mention, however, that the island had a large gay scene to it, and a lot of the clubs (though not officially "Gay Bars") certainly had a lesbian vibe to them.

Is this really the case, or is my friend just overreacting?

I've heard Hvar is a wonderful place and I am still going to include it as part of my trip.

I'm not opposed to or offended by the Gay scene, but would certainly rather hold the opportunity to party with single women.

Not trying to insult or offend anyone with this post either, just trying to gather some information.

Thanks.

Hello,

As a unattached girl I visited Hvar earlier this summer and did not find there any big gay scene at all (and I have been to some of Europian destinations where it has been apparent like Sitges in Spain - having some male lover friends).

Enjoy the night experience in Hvar!
